When should you reline a denture?
Just like your natural teeth, dentures need to be properly maintained periodically. Overtime, your gums and jaw bone slowly shrink, causing your denture to become looser and have an improper fit against your gums. This can lead to unnecessary irritation on your gums, improper chewing and unstable dentures. It is recommended to see your Denturist once every two years for a possible reline of your denture to conform to your changing gums.
Some patients may be hesitant to reline their denture because this involves leaving their denture at the dental clinic, where the dental clinic will send the denture to a dental lab to have your reline completed. This could result in 1 - 3 days without having your dentures.
